When Rick Martínez was a Mexican-American kid growing up Austin, Texas, he and his mom would watch cooking shows on TV but the only ones that showed Mexican cooking were hosted by Diana Kennedy, a British woman living in Mexico (who just passed away in July at age 99), and Rick Bayless, a white guy from Oklahoma.
